Risk Disclosure
Effective: 13 September 2026
Copy trading and crypto derivatives are high-risk. You can lose some or all of the money allocated, potentially very quickly. CopySift does not make any trader, exchange or strategy safe.
1. Research tool, not investment advice
CopySift provides automated, non-personalized research based on available public profile data. It does not know your finances, experience, objectives, tax position, jurisdiction or exchange settings. It does not execute trades, manage assets, hold funds, set your position size or provide an individualized recommendation.
You are responsible for deciding whether copy trading is lawful, available and suitable for you and for verifying every profile and setting directly with the exchange.
2. A screen cannot predict the future
A “passes” result means only that available historical evidence met defined rules at the time of the screen. It does not mean that:
- the trader is safe, suitable, honest or likely to be profitable;
- past performance will continue;
- loss, drawdown or liquidation will be limited;
- your copied result will match the leader’s displayed result;
- the data was complete, current or free of exchange errors.
A “does not pass” result is also not a prediction that an account will fail. It describes how available evidence compares with the current screening rules.
3. Copy-trading risks
Your result can differ materially from the leader because of different entry and exit times, account size, fixed order amounts, minimum order rules, unavailable instruments, leverage, margin mode, latency, slippage, fees, funding, profit share and manual intervention. A leader can change strategy, increase risk, stop trading, close the account or remove public information without warning.
Displayed leader ROI can exclude or obscure facts that matter to a copier. A smooth historical curve can coexist with loss averaging, unclosed losing positions, concentration, illiquidity or leverage that has not yet experienced a severe adverse move.
4. Crypto and derivatives risks
Crypto markets can move rapidly and trade continuously. Risks include extreme volatility, gaps, liquidation, adverse funding, thin liquidity, price manipulation, smart-contract failure, custody loss, cyberattack, exchange insolvency, withdrawal suspension, regulatory intervention and total loss. Leverage can magnify small market moves into losses greater than the margin allocated, subject to the exchange’s rules.
5. Data and model limitations
CopySift depends on third-party public interfaces. Data can be delayed, incomplete, rounded, inconsistent across windows, incorrectly labeled or removed. Supported exchanges expose different fields, so profiles are not perfectly comparable. Data confidence attempts to make missing evidence visible but cannot reconstruct information that was never published.
Calculated values, including modeled net return, slippage, drawdown, correlation and other risk estimates, depend on assumptions. Those assumptions can be wrong, and relationships observed in normal markets can break during extreme conditions. The 0–100 score compresses evidence and is not a probability of profit or survival.
6. Screening categories
- STABLE prioritizes stronger measured copy evidence and controlled historical risk relative to other eligible accounts. It can still suffer substantial or total loss.
- BALANCED gives more equal weight to measured return and risk. It can experience deep drawdowns and total loss.
- DYNAMIC accepts wider measured risk and uncertainty in pursuit of higher modeled return. It can experience extreme volatility and total loss.
These are screening mandates, not regulated risk ratings, safety labels, portfolios personalized to you or promises of a particular outcome.
7. Practical precautions
Never use borrowed money or funds needed for living expenses. Consider whether you can withstand a complete loss. Review the trader’s profile, open positions and settings directly on the exchange; start with an amount consistent with your own independent risk decision; monitor behavior after following; understand how to stop copying; and secure your account with the exchange’s available protections.
If you need advice for your circumstances, consult an appropriately authorized independent professional in your jurisdiction.
